We did it, we had our first Jeep adventure. I had an absolute blast in the Jeep with Scott and Twinkie and I can’t wait to do it again! You can read more about where we went in this post or watch the video below. This post is more to give you all an idea of what our short and long term plans are.
Jeep Stats
We were in a 2016 white 4 door Jeep Wrangler Oscar Mike edition and it was loaded! It had a lift kit, large bumpers, a wench and led lighting. Did we need all of that for the weekend? No, but it was cool. It also gave us an idea of what we thought of several things. I mean my truck has a radio but having the SiriusXM radio system was cool.
Dirt Roads
I grew up going camping, fishing, and hiking with my parents and little brother. Needless to say, I’ve had my share of going down dirt roads but they were always from the backseat. Let me tell ya, it’s a lot different doing it as an adult in the front seat! Scott took us down some dirt roads so we could get a feel for it. Awesome is the first word that comes to mind. I know, it’s an overused word but hey, it was awesome! On Harley’s when you find yourself having to go down a rocky, dirt road all you’re doing is thinking “please, don’t chip the paint” that or worrying about hitting a rock the wrong way and losing control. No fear of that in a Jeep!
Our Jeep Plans
It would have been great to keep the Jeep we had for the weekend but we’re not ready just yet. We did learn that definitely want a Jeep in the very near future. I’m not sure we’re in agreement yet about which jeep we’ll be buying or rather or not it will be a two or four-doors but we have time to figure all that out.
Over the next year or so we’ll be taking more Jeep adventures, going to Jeep events, keeping our eye on local Jeep dealers and doing lots of research. That’s where this blog will come in. Our plan is to share the research we do with all of you. If you have any input or ideas about purchasing a Jeep we welcome your thoughts. Of course, we’ll still be sharing our motorcycle trips and such.
The Motorcycles
We’ve had a lot of people ask if we plan to keep the motorcycles when we get the jeep. At this point we do. Scott and I enjoy riding the bikes but we want to have other options. If you ride or have ridden you know there are times when riding just isn’t an option or it isn’t the best option. That’s when we’ll be hoping in the Jeep.
Twinkie
Laugh all you want but Twinkie Bug is our baby now. The kids have all grown up and moved out. Our daughter is married and has a beautiful little girl of her own and both of our boys are engaged to lovely ladies. They have their own lives and need us less and less. That means Twinkie gets pampered. Twinkie or Bug as we frequently call her is a five-year-old Poodle Bichon mix that loves to be with us every minute that she can. That’s not an option on the motorcycles. As you can imagine she was elated to hop in the Jeep and spend the day out with us. She liked it so much ever since taking the day trip she runs to the door when I grab my keys. Who could resist? So, for now, she’ll have to have her “bug adventures” in my Explorer but she’s looking forward to going Jeepin again soon.
Oh dear, I LOVE the jeep wrangler. It’s so elegant in white. I just got my license and I suck at driving, but a few months ago I got lucky to rent the jeep for my roadtrip and I fell in love with it forever. The mirrors took a bit to get used to and it’s a bit unstable when it’s windy but overall I could move into that car. Love it.
I drive a Ford Explorer for my daily vehicle and the Jeep still felt huge to me but I’m looking forward to many Jeep road trips!
