Visiting Carlsbad Caverns New Mexico

Visiting Carlsbad Caverns New Mexico

Visiting New Mexico’s Carlsbad Caverns

Carlsbad Caverns will always be a special place for me. It was the first place that Scott and I visited after we got married. It was a crazy trip, the area had been in an extreme 3-year drought and of course the day we got there it rained, then it rained the second day and so on. Despite the rain, we had an amazing trip. We went off-roading in our van, went to the caverns and even went on the Slaughter Canyon Hike and cave tour. Not sure I’d be able to handle that hike these days but the memories are amazing. The video below is from our second trip there, we were celebrating 20 years of marriage that month! We were much older the second time around but the memories being made were just as amazing. Dallas Texas Truck & Jeep Fest 2019

August 25, 2019 by Margaret Filed Under: Around Town, Buying a Jeep

Dallas Texas Truck and Jeep Fest 2019 showcased products like custom trucks and Jeeps, product demos, factory direct pricing on truck and Jeep accessories.

Yesterday Scott and I went to our first Jeep type event. It was the Dallas Truck & Jeep Fest put on by 4WP. It showcased products like custom trucks and Jeeps, product demonstrations, factory direct pricing on truck and Jeep accessories and parts along with hourly giveaways. One of my favorite parts was that the majority of the jeeps there were the jeeps people were using. You could get an idea of what they used their jeep for and a bit of the owner’s personality.

Visiting the Houston Space Center, What you Need to Know

August 9, 2019 by Margaret Filed Under: Day Trips, Texas, Travel USA

I can finally mark visiting the Houston Space Center off my list of places to see. Houston is about a five-hour drive for us so we started out around 6:00 am. Our first stop was at Buc-ee’s for gas. While we were there we had to look around and Scott found a little stuffed Buc-ee for our granddaughter, Samantha. We decided it would be fun to take Buc-ee with us into the Space Center and let him pop up from time to time to say high to her. Tomorrow I’ll get Buc-ee in the mail to her and she can sit and watch the video with it. All of the spots you see Buc-ee pop up are places that the general public can touch. We didn’t put him anywhere off-limits or where there were signs not to touch. This post has moved to https://ourjeepadventures.com/visiting-the-houston-space-center/

You can read more about where we went in this post or watch the video below. This post is more to give you all an idea of what our short and long term plans are. [Read more…]

Regency Suspension Bridge San Saba Texas

July 22, 2019 by Margaret Filed Under: Texas Backroads, Where The Blacktop Ends

Regency suspension bridge in jeep

When Scott asked me where I wanted to go first in the jeep I instantly knew, the Regency Bridge in San Saba, Texas. We had been to the bridge before on our motorcycles but we have both mentioned wanting to go back.

The drive out to the bridge is a full day and very scenic. Since we were in the jeep Scott added in a few gravel and dirt roads for us. It was as much fun as I thought it would be. Riding a motorcycle is an amazing feeling but it is very hard on the body, especially in the Texas heat. That was not the case in the jeep. Recap of the Progressive International Motorcycle Show 2019

The Progressive International Motorcycle Show in Dallas was last weekend and as usual, we had a great time! We normally only attend on Saturday or Sunday but this year we decided to go on Friday and Saturday! After the first hour on Friday, I was glad we did. This year there were several options to really get involved. Knowing Saturday would draw a much larger crowd we decided to do that stuff Friday and save the vendors for Saturday. [Read more…]

Motobird Adventures: Motorcycle Adventures for Women

Motobird Adventures: Motorcycle Adventures for Women

Born under the stars, in front of a bonfire on a Baja beach, the idea of adventure was the focus from inception. Motobird Adventures is a motorcycle tour company for women riders and their friends, owned and operated by a woman rider. The plan to focus on women riders is about fostering different energy than the majority of what the motorcycle industry provides. Women tend to be an afterthought in the motorcycle world, hardly given the time and consideration we deserve. [Read more…]

Pre-Ride Motorcycle Inspection

October 12, 2018 by Margaret Filed Under: Learning to Ride, Maintenance, Safety

A pre-ride inspection should not take more than a few minutes. If it is done before every ride, it can help you identify potential issues before they become a larger problem or safety hazard.

It’s a beautiful day, the sun is shining, the wind is hardly blowing, and you are ready to hit the open road for a day of riding. Before taking off there are a few things you need to do to ensure your motorcycle is as ready as you are to hit the road. [Read more…]

OEM vs Aftermarket Motorcycle Parts

September 5, 2018 by Margaret Filed Under: Maintenance, Repairs

This is a difficult question with a few things to consider. Since we are the ones who will decide when shopping for motorcycle parts it’s important to know a few key things.

First, you need to consider what you are looking for. By this I mean is it for a repair or better performance?  Second, will this affect my warranty? Lastly, consider your budget. [Read more…]
